Beverlee Roper settled in Platte County 19 years ago with her husband R.J. and their
Cairn terrier Angus (“Gus”). Her career began years earlier in Ohio where she
hosted a daily women’s TV talk show on a local ABC-affiliate.
After receiving a law
degree in 1981, she worked as a public defender and city magistrate in Pittsburgh, PA,
and as a trial attorney within the U.S. Department of Justice, a job which eventually
brought her to Kansas City. After meeting and marrying R.J. she accepted a
partnership at a law firm and began house hunting.
“My only constraint was R.J.‘s
adamant desire not to live in Kansas. When we found Weatherby Lake we knew we’d
found our home.” R.J. succumbed to ALS in 2006.

Beverlee served on the Weatherby Lake Improvement Company Board of Directors
and she won 3-consecutive 2-year terms as the Weatherby Lake Municipal Judge.
Today Beverlee practices environmental law part-time for a few existing clients at the
Bruce Campbell Law Firm.
Her political philosohpy is simple and direct: “The best government is local government where citizens can talk to, yell at, and
compliment (occasionally) their elected officials. I welcome dialogue with any Platte
County resident, particularly those living in the first district (southern portion of the
county). While we will never all agree - I will always provide the reasons for my votes,
actions, and priorities.”
