Board of Equalization


Term: 3 years

Number of Board Members: 3

Meetings: 2nd Thursday of each month, usually in the morning. BOE Formal Appeals start the 2nd week in July. Other Hearings as needed, Platte County Assessor's office, Platte City;

Description of Duties: The Board of Equalization is a Statutory Board that is governed by the Missouri Constitution and follows the Missouri Revised State Statues. It has the responsibility of determining correct values of real and personal property for individual tax payers as well as for businesses and manufactures.

Monthly BOE Meetings: The board meets once monthly to review the changes made to the accounts. These are changes that are made to Real Estate, Personal Property and Business Personal Property.

Formal BOE Meetings: The formal BOE meetings are held the second week of July. These usually last one to five days. The board will hear all appeals being presented to the county at that time and make a determination of market value

Rare Occasion Meetings: On occasion there might be a need to call a meeting involving the board. This is done on an as needed basis.
